They are much bigger than the noisy-miners and from a distance seem to bear a closer resemblance to the dark brown Indian mynas, except for their colouring. Their neck and chest are much darker with an almost metallic sheen while their plumage is a deeper olive green.
Their eyes bear the distinctive look of the miner family, although the skin around their eyes has lighter colouring than their cousins. This was the second season when we've seen them in our yard and spotted a large colony sitting on the electric wire high above the bushes where they roost. Check out some pics below:
